The L-1A Visa is reserved for the transfer of the abroad entity’s executive or manager to the company’s U.S. office.
The L-1B Visa is reserved for the relocation of the abroad entity’s employee with a specialized knowledge to the company’s U.S. office, if demonstrated to be in the interest of the employer.
L1 visas duration varies based on a reciprocity schedule with the applicant’s abroad country of employment and can be extended to the maximum of seven years for L-1A Visa applicants and five years for L-1B applicants.
